• Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei told military commanders on Saturday that any threat must meet an ‘immediate, impactful and geographically unrestricted response’, and ordered them to widen Iran’s target list. It was his first reported meeting with the military leadership, AFP reports.
• President Donald Trump has hinted at new action after the US midterms on 3 November, and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of a ‘historic, one-time opportunity’ to topple Iran’s government. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump has not decided on new strikes.
• Qatari mediators arrived in Tehran on Friday, but there is no lasting deal. Security council head Mohsen Rezai said restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz will stay until Iran’s conditions, including release of frozen assets, are met.

• ইরানের সর্বোচ্চ নেতা মোজতবা খামেনি শনিবার সামরিক কমান্ডারদের বলেন, যেকোনো হুমকির জবাব হবে ‘তাৎক্ষণিক, কার্যকর ও ভৌগোলিক সীমাহীন’। লক্ষ্যতালিকা বাড়ানোর নির্দেশও দেন তিনি। সামরিক নেতৃত্বের সঙ্গে তাঁর এটিই প্রথম প্রকাশিত বৈঠক। খবর এএফপির।
• মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প ৩ নভেম্বরের মধ্যবর্তী নির্বাচনের পর নতুন সামরিক পদক্ষেপের ইঙ্গিত দিয়েছেন। ইসরায়েলের প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেনিয়ামিন নেতানিয়াহু ইরানের সরকার উৎখাতের ‘ঐতিহাসিক, একবারের সুযোগের’ কথা বলেছেন। মার্কিন পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী মার্কো রুবিও বলেন, নতুন হামলার সিদ্ধান্ত ট্রাম্প নেননি।
• শুক্রবার কাতারের মধ্যস্থতাকারীরা তেহরানে পৌঁছালেও স্থায়ী কোনো সমঝোতা হয়নি। সর্বোচ্চ জাতীয় নিরাপত্তা পরিষদের প্রধান মোহসেন রেজাই বলেন, অবরুদ্ধ সম্পদ ছাড়সহ ইরানের শর্ত পূরণ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত হরমুজ প্রণালিতে জাহাজ চলাচলে বিধিনিষেধ থাকবে।
