• Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman called the executions of two Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia “deeply tragic”. He said the government will comment officially only after reviewing the Vienna Convention and the Saudi legal papers.
• A confidential memo dated 18 October, reported by The Daily Star, says the two were executed in Mecca on 14 October. The Jeddah consulate had a prisoner list from 30 September that mentioned no death sentences, and Saudi authorities never told it, officially or otherwise.
• The consulate has asked for copies of the judgments, and neither family had sought legal help. It knew of no earlier Bangladeshi sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia for such offences.

• সৌদি আরবে দুই বাংলাদেশির মৃত্যুদণ্ড কার্যকরের ঘটনাকে ‘গভীর বেদনাদায়ক’ বলেছেন আইনমন্ত্রী মো. আসাদুজ্জামান। তিনি জানান, ভিয়েনা কনভেনশন ও সৌদি আইনি নথি খতিয়ে দেখার পরই সরকার আনুষ্ঠানিক মন্তব্য করবে।
• দ্য ডেইলি স্টারের প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে, ১৮ অক্টোবরের একটি গোপন স্মারক অনুযায়ী ১৪ অক্টোবর মক্কায় তাঁদের মৃত্যুদণ্ড কার্যকর হয়। ৩০ সেপ্টেম্বর জেদ্দা কনসুলেট যে বন্দিতালিকা পেয়েছিল, তাতে মৃত্যুদণ্ডের কথা ছিল না। সৌদি কর্তৃপক্ষ আনুষ্ঠানিক বা অনানুষ্ঠানিক কোনোভাবেই কিছু জানায়নি।
• কনসুলেট রায়ের অনুলিপি চেয়েছে। কোনো পরিবারই আইনি সহায়তা চায়নি বলে স্মারকে বলা হয়েছে। এ ধরনের অভিযোগে সৌদিতে আগে কোনো বাংলাদেশির মৃত্যুদণ্ডের নজির কনসুলেটের জানা নেই।
