• Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury told a business forum on 19 October that the energy crisis and economic stress will take “at least two years” to ease. He blamed the Middle East war, inherited debt and years of neglect in gas exploration. These are his claims.
• Separately, a finance adviser, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, said Bangladesh has spent an extra $4.12 billion on energy because of supply disruptions from the West Asia war, as bdnews24 reported.
• The plan includes 50 new Bapex gas wells, a 10-gigawatt solar target and three to four floating LNG terminals.
