• More than 2 crore empty LPG cylinders sit idle with distributors or in homes, The Daily Star reports. Cylinders are brand-specific, so a company cannot refill a rival’s.
• Energy regulator data show several big importers, including Bashundhara and Unitex, sharply cut or stopped imports. Company officials blame bank restrictions on letters of credit and the Iran war.
• Distributors say idle cylinders raise their costs and want higher charges. Regulator chairman Jalal Ahmed promised a separate meeting on what to do with them.

• দেশে ২ কোটির বেশি খালি এলপিজি সিলিন্ডার বিতরণকারীদের গুদামে বা ভোক্তাদের ঘরে অলস পড়ে আছে। সিলিন্ডার ব্র্যান্ডভিত্তিক হওয়ায় এক কোম্পানি আরেক কোম্পানির সিলিন্ডার ভরতে পারে না। খবর দ্য ডেইলি স্টারের।
• বাংলাদেশ এনার্জি রেগুলেটরি কমিশনের (বিইআরসি) তথ্যে, বসুন্ধরা ও ইউনিটেক্সসহ কয়েকটি বড় কোম্পানি আমদানি অনেক কমিয়েছে বা বন্ধ করেছে। কোম্পানির কর্মকর্তারা ঋণপত্র খোলায় ব্যাংকের কড়াকড়ি ও ইরান যুদ্ধকে দায়ী করেন।
• অলস সিলিন্ডারের কারণে খরচ বাড়ছে বলে জানান বিতরণকারীরা। তাঁরা বাড়তি চার্জ চান। বিইআরসির চেয়ারম্যান জালাল আহমেদ সিলিন্ডারের ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে আলাদা বৈঠকের কথা বলেছেন।
